How Important Is the Sequence of Tags in Your Medium Story?

I’m not really sure, but Medium has a protocol

Tags are passé according to one SEO blogger I read recently. Her view was that Google sees them as unnecessary padding in text.

Maybe.

But Medium isn’t Google.

Everything I read here on Medium stresses their importance. I’m not one to waste a word and I certainly don’t waste tags. I have a handy list of the most-used tags on Medium, but it seems I rarely use them except perhaps ‘writing’. I like to go off to unusual places in my writing, just as I do in my boat.

So, look at the following:

I checked other profiles. Only one tag is shown, the first one.

Home page the same.

I really don’t know if it really matters, but it does seem significant if only by default.
